Ehinger Hall (#14 Kings Highway) is located directly at the intersection of Kent Avenue and Division Street / Route 8
For those using GPS, the intersection of Kent Avenue and Division Street works best.
Best parking will likely be found on Kent Avenue



FROM NORTH:

South on Route 1, through Dover toll plaza
Take Exit 98 at Little Creek / Downtown Dover/ Rt 8. (First exit past toll)
Continue across Rt 13 at intersection.
Second traffic light is Kent Avenue and Ehinger Hall is on your left.
Enter through the iron gates.

IF YOU WISH TO AVOID TOLLS OR FROM THE SOUTH

Take Rt 13 to West Route 8 - Division Street
Second traffic light is Kent Avenue and Ehinger Hall is on your left.
Enter through the iron gates.

FROM POINTS WEST

From Route 301 in the Church Hill, MD area turn on MD Route 302 east to Barclay / Dover
At Templeville turn right on Route 454 to Marydel
At Maryland/Delaware line MD Route 454 becomes Delaware Route 8
Follow to Dover. In Dover road becomes two lanes, Stay to the left.
Lanes split, bear left on Division St.(Rt. 8) Sixth traffic light is Kent Avenue
Ehinger Hall is on your right. Enter through the iron gates.

A little more on "Kings Highway


Delaware State Route 8 in the city of Dover is called Division Street. In the area where Ehinger Hall is located, Division Street / Route 8 overlays a portion of the colonial "King's Highway" of the seventeenth-century from Wilmington to Dover and this name is still used.

In 1679, the Levy Court in New Castle records the King's Road be;

"clear of standing and living trees at least 10 foot broad;
all stumps and shrubs to bee cloose cutt by ye ground; the trees markt yearly on boath sides;
sufficient Bridges to bee made & kept over all marshy, swampy and difficult, dirty places,
& whatever else shall be thought more necessary in & about ye highways aforesd."
